Temperate Deciduous Forest- The forest is broken up into five zones. The first zone is the tree stratum zone. The second zone is the small tree and sapling zone. The shrub zone is the third zone. The fourth zone is the shrub zone. The last zone is the ground zone where plants grow right on or above the ground.

Trees- There are many kinds of trees in the forest. Such as Maple, Oak, Elm, Evergreen, and Cedar. Trees that shed there leaves in the fall live the deciduous forest. Deciduous forest soil is much richer than most soil in other forest, which allows for many plants to grow. Also the forests canopy is much thinner which allows for great light and heat on the forest floor. Allowing more light gives the plants a greater amount of light to photosynthesize, allowing more plants to live.

Animals- The forest is home to many animals. Having so many trees and such a open range animals are able to find great habitats. Many of the animals are mammals and warm blooded creatures. There are also few cold blooded animals and amphibians. Dozens of the animals that live in the temperate forest hibernate or migrate over the long cold winter. Animals that do not hibernate of migrate have better adaptations for the extreme cold.

Seasons- The Deciduous forest has four distinct seasons. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. All these seasons have different weather patterns. Spring is when most of the rain falls, while the heat is coming and warming up Earth from winter. Summer is when the forest is hot and dry with very little precipitation. Next is fall. Fall is when the forest is becoming much cooler and the leaves on the trees began to change color and fall. The last season of the year is winter. Winter is very cold with lots of snow fall. This is when most of the animals hibernate or migrate to warmer areas.

Humans- Humans have turned the forest into there home. Tearing down trees and habitats into homes and businesses. The once called forest is now big cites and towns with lots of buildings and houses for humans to live, work, eat and be entertained.
